A Preliminary Report about the Ancient Forests on the Central Hebei Plain

Abstract: A lot of ancient forest trees have been found on the central Hebei plain (about 1300 squre km) since the end of 1950s. The trees are proved to be the trace of ancient forests through discovering the tress with fixed densities and the layers of their dead branches and leaves, and fossils of heads and horns of David's deers (a kind of ancient animal in North China, wildlife of which disappeared now). By mean of pollen analysis, 14C determination, and inverstigation on the distribution of anciant river courses in the area the ancient forest was considered to exist in 7500 to 2500 years ago.
